Blast from the Past

Blast from the Past March 8, 2010

From his first plane ride, to smiling, laughing, posing and sleeping through sessions and being held by about 15 different people…

bcm staff conference4

…it was such a joy to have little Reesey-Bear with me last week for IV’s black staff conference.  It was crazy stressful flying solo with him but there is something about airports and Mama’s –everyone comes out of the woodwork to be helpful.

I could go on and on about how awesome the conference was and how much I love InterVarsity and my job and how I feel so much a part of a big, happy family when all the National black staff connect…. but, well, I do that a lot so I’ll spare you more we-were-praying-laughing-planning-and-loving-each-other-well stories. 🙂

Anyway…

In a complete and utter BLAST from the past, I was able to reconnect with an old friend from high school.  I hadn’t seen Chris since 1994 –16 years ago!

Can I really be that old?! (Apparently, eh?)

It was just bizzare and surreal to talk about high school and relive those chaotic nightmare years.  It struck me how two people can see it so differently.  When we spoke about “grading” high school, while I would give it a big fat “F” for failure, he gives it an “A-,” & called it “one the best times” of his life!  I think my jaw dropped to the ground.

In any case, he has a beautiful, wonderful wife and 3 cutie-patootie kids and it was wonderful to reconnect -in person- after all these years.
