I’m angry. ~Maybe still angry about the black girl hair issues I posted about a few days ago. ~Angry at random people who said a dress Halle Berry wore on the red carpet was “too young for her.” ~Angry at my husband for trying to help me with something, but not wanting to do it my way. ~Angry at Ransom for being loud, rambunctious & hard to get p.j.’s on. ~Angry at Dr. Sears.  Why? I don’t know.  I think his... Read more

The Preggo Update: As of last Monday, I am 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced, -2 station & having many useless contractions.  I’m up to 196 pounds (for a total of 33lbs. gain so far) & surprise most of my friends when they see me in person.  They say things like, “uh, wow.  Your big!”  See for yourself here. And this pic is exclusive to my blog –not for facebook consumption– so you can see what a giant blob I am... Read more

This movie was l – a – m – e, lame.  Not to mention boring, predictable & cheesy. I hate to say it because I love Jennifer Garner & will watch anything she does, but this movie is just awful. There are so many stupid lines, the acting is terrible, the plot is worse. There is nothing redeemable about what may be the worst romantic comedy of 2009.  How did this movie rake in $55 million at the box office? ... Read more

After last nights tirade post I could barely sleep as I thought about the deeper issues at hand that must not be ignored. I’m an educated black woman so I cannot merely spout my anger without saying these things: I understand & acknowledge that there are layers upon layers of deep and historical racial issues undermining peace in this issue. I understand & acknowledge that the differences that exist between us go back more than 100 years ago when slaves... Read more

One of my fave blogs is Black Girl with Long Hair.  It’s fun, inspirational & downright helpful for a gal like me with a lot of thick, curly hair. However, today’s post included an interview from a web-designer/blogger/illustrator which included this design she made: This is redonkulously annoying!  Not to mention unfair. You know what this says to me?  It says, “black girls who choose to wear their hair with a perm, or a weave don’t love themselves.” C’mon, seriously? ... Read more

One of my friends & InterVarsity Colleaugues Lisa L. wrote this really good post on her blog, (“Sanctification: A journey through mother, daughter, wife, student, employee, and missionaryhood with all the thoughts, memories, and follies along the way.”) She makes several good points arguing two sides for both having smaller families for the sake of finances & freedom to having bigger families for the sake of the kids, fun & genuine love for our babies.  She’s a smart gal &... Read more

One of my best friends daughter just went to her 1st LIVE concert – the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana phenomenon.  I must admit, I felt mildly jealous. It got me thinking back to one of the best parts of my childhood & adolescent years: concerts! I got to see New Kids on the Block, Bobby Brown, M.C. Hammer (“turn this mutha out!”), Brandy, The Winans Family Christmas Re-union, The Clark Sisters, Christina Aguillera, Boyz II Men (twice!), R.Kelly & TLC. Earlier... Read more

Around this time last year I met a friend of the very gifted author, Ann Lamott.  My friend, N. made me downright blush as she said I, Grace Biskie reminded her of “Annie” and said she would love to pass on my memoir manuscript to her for a possible jacket cover recommendation!  (This would be beyond HUGE!  Anne Lamott wrote the jacket cover recommendation for the wildly popular, New York Times Best-Seller Eat, Pray, Love by: Elizabeth Gilbert). I remember getting back... Read more
