Last week I was on cloud 9.  Between the prospect of meeting Anne Lammot, (whilst handing her a copy of my manuscript), my great weekend in TN, and feeling 100% inspired to work on and eventually finish this book, life was feeling darn grand. But then all of a sudden I felt I got punched in the stomach, lost my footing on cloud #9 & then fell to the earth in a bloody kersplat. Where to begin?  First off, some... Read more

none of you.  We made an alternate 5th & 6th option based on my facebook feedback.  This is #7! 🙂 Everyone seemed to like #2 & #4 so we put those two together, b/c neither of us liked that in #4 you could only see half our sweet little boy’s face.  Also, we got a lot of votes for portrait over landscape & for sepia.  Thanks for all of those who cast votes! 🙂  I wish Ran was looking up... Read more

Every year we send out a picture card to our donors & pray-ers who support our ministry.  This  year we have narrowed it down to 4 pictures that could work. So, please cast your vote.  The ultimate goal of this card is that it will go up on refrigerators & that people will remember to pray and give to our ministry.  With that in mind, which would -if up on your fridge would make you think, “mmm, I love those... Read more

…because I am still pinching myself. Last weekend I spent time with 24 amazing people.  We were South Asian, Guatemalan, Brazilian, Korean, Korean-American, Japanese-American, white, Latina, Native & biracial.  It was pretty fantastic.  Amazing that we came in, ALL of us strangers, with only 2 things in common: being an “emerging leader” & having some association to the Reformed Church of America denomination.  We left a mere 36 hours later, family.  I seriously love these folks!  It is really is... Read more

Ransom is 3 now.  He’s not really excited about moving to a “big boy” bed.  He loves his crib, in fact it is one of the few things he routinely thanks God for every night in his prayers…”Sus, I love momma-daddy, wace cows, my bed & meatballs.”  I took this shot last week.  I don’t know do you think it’s time?     Ransom has been in a “i love mama all the time” phase.  Which has actually made this... Read more

First of all, I’m sorry blogging friends I have been really busy with school – 25 page papers, and such!  Also, I’ve been working on my book in my “spare” time -sometimes from 6am-6:30am- and for some reason I only have enough creative energy for book writing or blogging.  How sad for me.  I miss blogging. Quick update: Last weekend I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friends wedding –Jamileh & Elie.  It was beautiful and so much... Read more

For reasons I’m not quite ready to share yet I haven’t been able to bring myself to blog.  Not due to busyness, -though life couldn’t get any busier- but I sort of feel like maybe I was a lead actress in the movie, Gigli & I got a 10 (out of 100) on the tomato-meter on rottentomatoes.com & on top that I got voted worst dressed at the premiere.  The jist: the shame of rejection!  I will share about it.... Read more

When Ran was 9 months old I had this awful experience at JC Penneys getting his photos done.  They were so unprofessional, rude & they lost my pictures & it still cost me $60.  Ever since Ran was little I’ve always done 3-hour, 200 pic photo shoots with him & I really like that pictures that I take… so I sort of made an executive decision that Dave & I would NEVER pay for professional pics for him again.  It’s... Read more

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that yesterday someone murdered Jennifer Hudson’s mother & brother, Jason.  And her sisters 7 year old son is missing.  She has said that she feels very close to her family & I cannot imagine what grief she is experiencing right now.  I’ve found myself thinking about it all day, praying for her, contemplating it. What you probably haven’t heard is that two days ago, on October 23, 30,000 Ugandan children were sold into slavery... Read more

Hybels’ book Who You Are When No One is Looking -I admit- never finished it, however I got just enough in to put a high value on making a robust effort at trying to live my whole life with integrity. “To be a woman of integrity,”  is a specific prayer I’ve been asking God for for at least 10 years. Last week our Greek class was given a take home mid-term!  (What is she crazy???)  It took all of... Read more
