You’ve probably read many of these Bible verses about strength before.  A lot of times we’ll stumble on one of these verses when we’re reading and find inspiration in their powerful words.

When we’re feeling discouraged, it’s helpful to have an arsenal of verses that remind us of the strength we find in God.  Use these along with the list of 100 encouraging Bible verses to renew your mind in God’s word.

Praising God Because He Give You Strength

Philippians 4:13  I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Exodus 15:2  The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.  He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Mark 12:30  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Finding Strength in God Alone

2 Samuel 22:33  It is God who arms me with strengthand makes my way perfect.

1 Chronicles 16:11  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Bible Verses About Strength When You’re Afraid

Deuteronomy 31:6  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

1 Samuel 30:6  David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.

Psalm 23:4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 27:1  The LORD is my light and my salvation—  whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

Isaiah 41:10  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

God Brings Strength to Those In Trouble

Psalm 22:19  But you, O LORD, be not far off;  O my Strength, come quickly to help me.

Psalms 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 28:7-8  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

Isaiah 43:2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

1 Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

God Strengthens Those Who Are Grieving or Weak

Psalms 119:28  My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.

Nehemiah 8:10  Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Isaiah 40:29-31  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

1 Peter 4:11  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
