This Saturday (November 26, 2011) is the second annual Small Business Saturday. If you’re not familiar with Small Business Saturday, check out the main website here. I love the idea of supporting local businesses and giving them some attention this time of year.
Here are a few main points about Small Business Saturday:
- Shoppers are encouraged to shop locally and to support small businesses the day after Black Friday
- Pick your favorite local business and pledge to shop ‘small’
- Spend $25 at a small business and get a statement credit of $25
$25 Statement Credit for Small Business Saturday
According to American Express, “you can receive a one-time $25 statement credit when you register any eligible American Express® Card and use that Card to make a purchase of $25 or more at a small business on November 26, 2011.” You simply need to register your card here and make your purchase on Saturday at an eligible small business.
American Express views an eligible small business as the following:
“Eligible small business merchants are independently owned small businesses located in the United States that accept the American Express Card. Purchases made at large or national chain stores, at franchised business locations and at government agencies are not eligible. Prepaid, Corporate Cards and ExpressPay transactions are not eligible.”
Happy shopping! I hope you still have enough energy to click on Cyber Monday!
