Viola Davis Prayed for a Husband, Then Got One

When looking for a partner, some people try online dating. But others, like actress Viola Davis, appeal to a higher power. The Oscar-nominated star of The Help and Doubt told the New York Post, “I was the loneliest woman in the world, and someone said, ‘You should just pray for a husband.’ I said I wanted a big black man from the South who looked like a football player, who already had children, who maybe had been married before . . . 3 1/2 weeks later I met my husband.”

Viola’s heaven-sent husband is Julius Tennon is a former football player turned actor. He has two kids from previous relationships and had been raising them as a single dad when he and Viola first met. They have since adopted a son named Genesis. Julius has appeared on episodes of ER, Rizzoli and Isles, and Friday Night Lights, and was also in his wife’s movie Won’t Back Down.
