Eliza Dushku Used to Have a Crush on Mitt Romney

Eliza Dushku was raised in the Mormon church, and although she doesn’t really consider herself a member any more she has some pretty interesting stories about her upbringing. (Fun fact: Eliza’s mom is a well-known feminist and professor at Boston’s Suffolk University, and one of her areas of expertise is the LDS Church in America.) Eliza says that when she was a little girl, Mitt Romney was her bishop (a lay position) when she was growing up in Massachusetts and that he was her “first crush.” She even went so far as to name one of her Ken dolls “Mitt.”

Now that Romney is the Republican party’s presumptive presidential nominee, is he getting Eliza’s vote? She told New York magazine, “I’m sure he’s a nice guy. I knew him to be a nice person, to those around him. He had five sons that I knew, that my brothers would play with growing up, and they were kind to others. But what they stand for I don’t find to be tolerant or just.”
