If these musings from Mandy Patinkin, aka Saul from Homeland and Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, aren’t FGP Celebrity Quote of the Week material, I honestly don’t know what is. From Esquire’s “What I Learned” feature: “My sense of religion is Einstein’s sense of relativity. I don’t believe in God. I believe that energy never dies. So the possibility exists that you might be breathing in some other form of Moses or Buddha or Muhammad or Bobby Kennedy or... Read more

The ever-innovative Beck has a new album out – but it’s actually a collection of sheet music written by the musician rather than an album full of his songs. New York magazine has an interview with him, and they a) actually ask a Scientology question and b) actually get some sort of an answer. Beck, like other famous Scientologists, is known for dodging questions about his beliefs or simply refusing to answer, but he did talk a little in this... Read more

This year, Conan O’Brien brought back his “Human Centipede menorah” sketch for Hanukkah. However, one of the show’s viewers thought that Conan was lighting the menorah the wrong way. (The fact that there were people connected face-to-butt, though? Apparently not as problematic.) Here’s Alexander’s video and Conan’s response. Read more

One Direction‘s most popular pinup is probably Harry Styles, who is all over the tabloids these days for his relationship with Taylor Swift. But I’m much more interested in something else – his tattoos. Specifically, the Hebrew one. According to The Sun, the tat spells out “Gemma,” Harry’s sister’s name. (I would have pronounced it “Gimah,” but according to my resident fluent ivrit-speaker that second symbol is an apostrophe and not a yud.) While it’s sweet of him to get... Read more

Comedian and former Saturday Night Live star Victoria Jackson is a Christian and a vocal right-wing activist. While the country was reacting to the horrific murders of 26 people in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday (a figure which included 20 kindergarteners), Jackson chose to focus on anger instead of compassion. She went on Facebook to rant about what she saw as the real cause of the shootings – not a troubled young man, but a country who doesn’t love God enough:... Read more

Earlier this year, I reported that David Waller and Priscilla Keller, the sister and brother-in-law of Anna Duggar whose wedding was featured on 19 Kids and Counting, were expecting their first child. Well, the Kellers have updated their blog and let everyone know the sex (boy) and due date (March 9) of their baby. I really like David and Priscilla on the show, mostly because I like how all my commenters speculate about David’s sexuality. But overall, I find the... Read more

Last year, Conan O’Brien icked the hell out of me by creating a Human Centipede menorah. The menorah is back again this year (tonight’s the sixth night, for those of you keeping track at home), but thankfully there’s a second much-less-icky accessory to go along with it: the R2D2 dreidel. Here’s the spinner making its debut:   Read more

Director and producer Brett Ratner, who has made movies like the Rush Hour franchise and X Men: The Last Stand, is apparently not satisfied with the level of Jewishness in Hollywood. (No one has ever had that sentiment before, btw.) The Hollywood Reporter, er, reports that Ratner was going to a meeting at the United Talent Agency offices in Los Angeles when he randomly started putting mezzuzahs on the doors of two agents, the possibly-Jewish-sounding Blair Kohan and Jeremy Zimmer.... Read more
