C.S. Lewis said in his famous sermon “The Weight of Glory” that if he were to ask twenty Christian leaders in his day what was the chief virtue, nineteen of them would answer Selflessness. Lewis argued that previous centuries of Christians would have answered instead with Love as the noblest of virtues. He was right in assessing his generation. But the 2012 Presidential election this week leads me to think that most Americans today would answer that question differently yet again. I... Read more

“It’s a tragedy.”  So said Dennis Prager upon first hearing the news that Ohio had gone to Obama, thus deciding the Election 2012 outcome in these United States, November 6, 2012. I would add my own thought as a lifelong Buckeye: It is embarrassing. By reelecting Barack Obama, we have made a choice as a nation that is so egregiously bad that I feel I must distance myself from the decision or risk being associated with the disastrous consequences of it. Even... Read more

When I answered the call to train leaders in Guam this coming week, I didn’t notice the proximity to the election. I’ve been occupied the last few days preparing to serve ministry leaders in Guam. I’m flying there tomorrow so posting will likely be thin leading up to the election. Some will applaud my absence, no doubt, as evidence continues to surface that the President is likely the one who refused to send in help to our heroic Americans on the ground.... Read more

Even though I suggest you watch the third Presidential Debate — hopefully the sit-down format won’t revive the incessant smiling and interrupting of the last such format — I really don’t expect much to emerge that will change anything at this point in the race. Romney knows foreign policy much better than most give him credit for. Having followed him closely for the last six years and read his book No Apology — which he wrote himself — I am confident... Read more

Romney was right to demand the truth from President Obama on Libya and Benghazigate last night in the second Presidential Debate. After Obama’s performance about being offended at the very idea that he would play politics with the tragedy,  or the result of a spontaneous protest over a YouTube video. He didn’t get clarity. Neither did we. What we got was the moderator making a terrible call by butting in to support Obama’s claim that he said the words “act... Read more

It’s not just a book. It’s an experience. I know it sounds like the tag-line for something Disneyesque, but that’s how Joel J. Miller’s latest book Lifted by Angels: The Presence and Power of Our Heavenly Guides and Guardians made me feel. I didn’t just read it, my soul felt mystically reawakened by the ancient truth of these angelic hosts that surround us each day and night. I know that sounds a strange statement coming from an Evangelical raised in Fundamentalist circles who’s supposed... Read more

More than a month after terrorists attacked the US embassy in Lybia on Sept. 11 and assassinated the US ambassador and three others, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton now takes full responsibility for the security failures that permitted the attack.  But the questions remain as to why a YouTube video was blamed for an obvious terror attack. To date no one  that I have found has taken blame for the Obama Administration — and the President himself — calling the attacks... Read more

More evidence mounts that the attack on the US embassy in Lybia on Sept. 11, 2012, and assassination of the US ambassador and three other Americans was a deliberate terrorist attack. In response,  Democratic National Committee Chair claimed on CNN with Piers Morgan yesterday that initial Obama administration statements citing a YouTube video as the cause of the violence were wrong, but not intentionally so, which means they were not technically false. Even CNN’s Piers Morgan disagreed. Watch or read... Read more
