“Constant vigilance!”

The Harry Potter movies have a nasty habit of leaving out many of my favorite lines and scenes, and one particularly glaring omission that many fans caught was the fact that Mad-Eye Moody (Brendan Gleeson) never says “Constant vigilance!” in the film version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).

Well, now that the film is out on DVD, we can see that there was, in fact, a scene in which the character says these words — but it was left out not only from the film, but from the deleted scenes as well. We know this footage was shot because a documentarian with a video camera caught Gleeson reciting those words, and a clip of him reciting them, depicted here, was incorporated into the bonus feature ‘Reflections on the Fourth Film’ around the 5:30 mark.

Fascinating to find out that Ralph Fiennes’s (i.e. Voldemort’s) nose was removed digitally, and his nostrils were not a prosthetic.
