Today, the twins turned 5 months and 1 day old. And today, they went to see their first movie — and I missed it!
Alas, I was stuck working at home, but Deanna took them with her to their first-ever Movies for Mommies event at the Fifth Avenue theatre, a short walk across the bridge from where we live.
The movie they saw? The Devil Wears Prada. (I caught it at a press screening last week. Loved Streep and Tucci, of course.)
Deanna tells me the twins were changed at least twice and fed once during the movie (Thomas needed a third change, apparently), and Elizabeth in particular enjoyed lying on her portable change mat on the floor and looking up at the movie screen.
Deanna also tells me both twins fell asleep about ten minutes before the end of the movie — but fortunately, they more-or-less stayed asleep as she put them back into the stroller.
And were there any men there? “No,” says Deanna. Apparently the theatre staff did welcome “mothers and fathers”, but, well, as my wife puts it, “This was The Devil Wears Prada.” (Four-fifths of this movie’s rather large opening-weekend audience was female.)
