My moviegoing has slowed down a bit in the last few weeks, but as a completist, I am happy to say that I have already seen most of the feature-length films that were nominated for Academy Awards last Tuesday. I have seen all of them, in fact, except for these six — four of which happen to be playing in Vancouver right now:
- Venus — at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas
- Notes on a Scandal — at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas and the Cinemark Tinseltown
- Curse of the Golden Flower — at the Cinemark Tinseltown
- Iraq in Fragments — at the VanCity Theatre
- After the Wedding
- Days of Glory
Of the two that are not currently in town, I know that one is due to be released here in late February — two days before the Oscar ceremony itself, in fact — but I don’t know about the other one.
Will I get to see these six films soon? Well, I can dream, at least.
