Rossellini makes history.

Rossellini makes history.

Dave Kehr notes in the New York Times that Criterion has just released a handful of Roberto Rossellini’s late-career “history films” on DVD, almost all of which were initially produced for TV. With any luck, this might mean that Rossellini’s currently out-of-print biblical movies, Acts of the Apostles (1969) and The Messiah (1975), are also being lined up for a DVD release. Click on the titles to see some comments that my fellow Bible-movie buff Matt Page has written about both films over at his blog.
