Someone approached me about hosting a conference of 7 speakers … myself and 6 others. He gave me a list of 30 people who have endorsed one or more of my books to select from. Here are who you selected (this image shows the top 13 picks): Here are the 30 people you chose from: John Ortberg Phil Cooke Tricia Goyer Jon Acuff Mark Batterson Margaret Feinberg Pete Wilson Craig Keener David Fitch Jenny Catron Todd Hunter Steve McVey Nicole… Read more

In my book, Reimagining Church (2008), I crafted a detailed exposition on what leadership in the first-century church looked like and the revolutionary principles that were clearly articulated by Jesus and Paul. The second half of my book is entitled “Who is Your Covering?” (a title I created in the 1990s), and it goes into great depth on the issues of accountability, submission, and authority. Jennifer LeClaire is a writer and the administrator for Charisma and Charisma News online. I caught up with Jennifer recently for an interview. If you’re new to the blog, you may be wondering about this. But I’m not a charismatic myself and I don’t follow what’s going on in the charismatic world. Better Than We Believed: How to Apply the Vision That is Faith to the Struggle That is Life is a new book by Robert Cormier. I have never heard of this author before, but the title is great. Especially the subtitle. I’ve learned that the longer you live, the greater your struggle with doubt and faith. Perhaps because life throws more curve balls at you. Perhaps because your theology that made so much sense doesn’t seem to fit your experience… Read more

Holyfield vs. Tyson. Ali vs. Foreman. Leonard vs. Durán‎. All examples of two titanic powers going at it with all of their high-voltage prowess. In Michael Brown’s brand new-hot-off-the-presses book Authentic Fire, Brown goes nose-to-nose with John MacArthur and excoriates his arguments in Strange Fire. Authentic Fire by Brown is a book that every charismatic, every cessationist, and every continuationist will want to have in their library. Because I like Michael’s book so much, endorsing it glowingly, I interviewed Michael Brown… Read more

In Finding Organic Church, I explore how Paul deliberately mentored, coached, and apprenticed his younger coworkers in Ephesus for a period of three years. Essentially, Paul repeated what Jesus did with the Twelve in Galilee in what A. B. Bruce called “the training of the Twelve.” The main difference is that Paul trained eight people instead of twelve. Interestingly, during the time that Paul trained these eight coworkers to carry on his work, he paid for their needs. Rather than taking… Read more
