The following is a guest post written by Mark DeJesus, a member of the Buzz Community – a premium community made up of writers, authors, and bloggers who help one another. — Our greatest need is to love and be loved, which flows in the context of relationships. One of the best places to process out our relational growth is in the context of healthy friendships. Yet I find that in the scores of people I coach and help in... Read more

David Hayward is a friend of mine. Best known as “the nakedpastor,” David is an artist. And a good one at that. As with most of my friends, we don’t agree on everything. Including our beliefs about Scripture, God, politics, church, etc. But unlike some religious people, that doesn’t prevent me from befriending them. (This is one of the things that irritates me about some religious people. They believe that you must agree with someone down the line in order... Read more

Tim Keller has written a new commentary on the book of Galatians. It’s called Galatians for You. Note that my review should be understood within the context of someone who owns what I regard to be the very best commentaries on Galatians written by Christians throughout the centuries. They all sit happily in my library. Keller’s commentary is an accessible, easy-to-read, popular (opposed to academic) commentary on Paul’s letter to the Galatians. It’s a brief treatment, weighing in less than... Read more

James D.G. Dunn’s long awaited project Christianity in the Making has been completed. Dunn’s meaty 3-volume series includes the following: Vol. 1: Jesus Remembered Vol. 2: Beginning from Jerusalem Vol. 3: Neither Jew nor Greek: A Contested Identity  This trilogy will not appeal to popular readers. These are robust academic works. Dense and rich with source material. (If you’re allergic to footnotes, you’ll be sneezing and wheezing through each volume.) I used Dunn’s Jesus Remembered for some of my research in... Read more

Today, I talk to Vince Antonucci about his new book Devo for the Rest of Us. Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit from reading your book?” Vince Antonucci: The goal of life is intimacy with God. And intimacy with God leads to influence in the world. Jesus said if we abide in him, we will produce... Read more

Michael Frost has written a practical little book to ignite your imagination on how you can share the Lord with those who don’t know Him. It’s called Surprise the World: The Five Habits of Highly Missional People. Here’s my interview with Michael about the book. Enjoy! Why did you write Surprise the World? Michael Frost: My own faith community has been practicing the BELLS rhythm for years now and I have been referring to it in talks and presentations around the... Read more

Back in the 90s, I purchased the NIV Study Bible by Zondervan edited by Kenneth Barker. This Bible was all the rage back then. I found it to be decent, but not great. Recently, however, Zondervan has revised the NIV Study Bible under the editing leadership of D.A. Carson. It’s almost 1,000 pages longer than the previous incarnation, much meatier, and cosmetically far more appealing. I think this is an excellent study Bible. Tim Keller says of it, “This NIV... Read more
