Led Zeppelin’s First Concert & A Ministry Dream Team

Led Zeppelin’s First Concert & A Ministry Dream Team 2021-06-02T09:59:00-04:00

In a previous article, I shared with you my vision of a ministry dream team for the Insurgence.

Led Zeppelin serves as a great metaphor when it comes to the gifting and synergy of such a team.

Recently, Rolling Stone Magazine detailed the history of how Zeppelin formed. Their first ever concert together was on September 7, 1968 – 50 years ago from last week (precisely).

The article reveals that Jimmy Page had a vision for a super band that would embody something new to the music world. His vision was clear, and he knew exactly what he wanted to do.

Peter Grant, who was a remarkable agent, teamed up Page.

From there, Grant and Page auditioned and recruited Robert Plant (Page and Plant spent a week together at Page’s boathouse where they compared notes, so to speak.)

Plant introduced Page to John Bonham. And then John Paul Jones responded to an ad in a music magazine where Page announced that he was “on the lookout” for musicians to form a new band.

Jones’ wife urged him to call Page, which he did.

August 12, 1968 was their first rehearsal as a band and September 7 was their first concert. And the rest is history.

Zeppelin made an indelible mark on music history that still stands today. Their contribution is still unparalleled.

A quote from the article:

“In the spring of 1968, Page was at a crossroads. The highly touted session guitar ace was once again a man without a band.”

Well, in the spring of 2018, Frank Viola was at a crossroads, and he is a man without a team.

Let’s hope that will change.

I’m still on the look out for a “Peter Grant” and some others to form a dream team for the Insurgence that will shake this earth.

Here’s the article of the vision to share with whomever the Lord leads. The criteria is stated at the end.
