4. Gennifer Flowers
Gennifer Flowers was Bill Clinton’s mistress for 12 years. Their affair began in 1979, just after Bill was elected governor of Arkansas and it ended prior to his first presidential campaign in the early ’90s. Clinton denies a lengthy affair and only admitted to a one-time sexual encounter back in 1977, as he wrote in his autobiography, My Life.
Flowers came forward with her allegations during the 1992 presidential campaign and revealed taped phone conversations with Clinton. Before the evidence went public, Clinton denied having a relationship with the woman. The recordings not only uncovered his lie, but forced him to apologize to then-New York Governor Mario Cuomo for derogatory remarks made on the tapes.
