3. Grudem then says Christians have no option but to vote, essentially, for Trump over Hillary because he’d be better than the alternative.
This is the conclusion that we’ve been fighting for so long. As David wrote, “It is hard to face the fact that — on balance — Trump is no better than Hillary Clinton. Hillary is a dreadful politician, and Republicans have waited for years for a great candidate to take her on. They’re still waiting. It’s Democrat versus Democrat for president, and no amount of wishful thinking can change that sad reality.”
In other words, I will support the Republican party when it puts forth an actual Republican as a nominee. In the meantime, it’s not morally right to use your vote to support someone who is inarguably a pathological liar, an opportunist who has said he has the right to change his mind on any position he’s put forth, and who could very easily get us into World War III because another world leader mispronounced his name.
Though I respect Dr. Grudem’s life and work, you don’t have to be a professor of ethics to understand that Trump doesn’t deserve the support of evangelicals… or any thinking American.
