Anne Frances Robbins was born in New York on July 6, 1921, to Edith and Kenneth Robbins, a used car salesman. In 1928, Nancy’s parents divorced, and she was sent to live with her aunt Virginia and husband Audley Galbraith in Bethesda, Maryland. In May of 1929, Edith married neurosurgeon Loyal Davis who moved his family to Chicago. Loyal adopted Nancy in 1935. Now Nancy Davis, the future Mrs. Reagan always considered Loyal to be her true father.
