Trump spokesperson: every critic will one day “kneel before Trump” August 19, 2016

PJ Media has this great quote from Donald Trump’s African American Outreach Coordinator:

Omarosa Manigault, who once competed on Donald Trump’s show, “The Apprentice,” warned this week that in the end, all of Trump’s critics and detractors will “bow down” to the reality TV star and (in her view) future president.

The comment came in a trailer released Tuesday to promote the PBS Frontline documentary “The Choice 2016,” the network’s election-year profiles of the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Manigault is currently director of Trump’s African-American outreach. She previously served as vice chairwoman for his National Diversity Coalition. In the trailer she declares, “Donald Trump is running for president because he truly believes he can help turn the nation around.” Then she adds ominously, “More importantly, every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump.”

How do you think this will play with ordinary Americans?

Frequently, I wonder what George Washington would think if he had the chance to see our current election cycle.  (And yes, that may have to do with listening perpetually to the Hamilton soundtrack.) Washington, knowing that all future American leaders would follow his footsteps, created a modest “presidency” so it would not reek or royalty.  In fact, he stepped down from his position when he felt it was the right time.

After Washington won American independence, his long time rival, King George III, asked what Washington was going to do.

“They say he will return to his farm,” his painter said.

“If he does that,” the king said, “he will be the greatest man in the world.”

If only subsequent leaders followed in his footsteps.
