7. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. This perhaps is my favorite line of evangelical “leaders.” Have you ever heard them utter this phrase in response to a Democrat’s indiscretions? (Ever?) This line, of course, comes from the gospel of John. A woman, caught in sexual indiscretion, is about to be stoned. When Jesus says, “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone,” the men drop their rocks and walk away.
Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,”Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Some versions say “sin no more.” These evangelical leaders have not conveniently forgotten that. They are purposely ignoring the grave offenses of Donald Trump so they can have a seat at the table if he wins.
The damage done to the gospel this year, by so-called evangelicals, will take longer to recover from than the ’80s TV evangelist scandals.

8. Clinton has done worse. I’m no Clinton apologist. I cried when Bill was elected and have written extensively about how Hillary deserves to be in jail. (In fact, I was against Hillary back when Donald Trump was donating to her campaigns.) Here’s the good news: you can denounce both Clinton and Trump! In America, you cannot be compelled to support a candidate who violates your conscience. Sometimes NOT voting is a patriotic act — one that protects you from moral compromise.
“In the 1990s, some of these social conservatives argued that ‘If Bill Clinton’s wife can’t trust him, neither can we,’” Russell Moore wrote. “If character matters, character matters. Today’s evangelicals should ask, ‘Whatever happened to our commitment to ‘traditional family values’?”
I like how Jonah Goldberg put it:
“…if you can’t see what a hot mess Donald Trump is yet, I doubt you ever will and I wonder what fresh Hell will allow the realization to penetrate your consciousness. Either way, this video is not an aberration. It is not a special circumstance. It’s him. There’s no pivot in him. There’s no ‘presidential’ switch to flip. He’s Donald Trump all the way down. And he will humiliate and debase his defenders so long as they feel the need to defend this indefensible man.”
