3. Focusing on God removes the whiny victim-centric view of the relationship.
God reached out to Adam after the globe-changing fruit incident, but Adam’s response shows a lack of awareness of his moral culpability. “I was afraid, because I was naked. I hid myself.” Orlund points out, “Even a lost little boy knows better when his father finally shows up. But Adams slinks around like a victim, unable to trust God and face himself and comfort his broken hearted wife.” This shows that God-avoidance doesn’t allow us to get real with what’s happened and what needs to change.
