Distant Fires
Two fires,
Distant flames,
Across a country,
Across the world.
One is the fire of renewal,
The days are visibly longer,
The fish stir in the stream,
The Sun rises sooner.
One is the fire of thanks,
The bountiful harvest,
Waving like believers in the fields,
Basking in the Sun.
In one world, life begins,
Coming into being,
Fire lit in the greater hearth,
Water in the well.
In another world, life abides,
Grain flowing in the field,
Fire bright in the summer sky,
The season flows like a river.
A hammer, a forge,
A new life, a song,
All new wonders,
Arise in the Fire.
A spear, an art,
A vision, a gate,
All potent magic,
Arise in the fire.
Blessings rise,
In Brighid’s well,
Drink deep,
Drink and drink again.
One eye closed,
One arm extended,
One leg in the balance,
A view into the future.
A Blessed Imbolc and Lughnasadh to one, and all!
