I’m Alive!

I’m Alive!

Hello friends.

Things have been quiet over here for a while, so I just wanted to let you know that I am still alive. In case you were, you know, waiting with baited breath for my next sparkling post. It’s ok, I know you were.

I have a baby girl who is growing and growing right before my very eyes. Later this month we will celebrate her SIX MONTH birthday. I can’t believe it has been almost six months since that long, cold, December day when she came crying into the world.

Maggie jumped from the 25th percentile in height at her two month appointment, to the 90th percentile in height at her four month checkup. I can’t wait to see how big she is at her six month checkup. As of 4 months, she was 25.5 inches long!

We started food a few weeks ago.

cereal and pears!

So far we’ve tried rice cereal, apples, pears, peas, sweet potatoes, peaches, avocados, and bananas. She likes apples, sweet potatoes, bananas, and pears. She tolerates peaches, cereal and peas. She really doesn’t like avocados. Her favorite snack, by far, is her toes, which she now stuffs into her mouth with abandon.

She rolls over just about every time she’s on her belly. She’s seriously considering sitting up on her own. She loves her toys, and happily chats with them (and me!) all day long. She has figured out that she can splash in her tub, and just how much fun that is! Nothing makes her laugh quite like peek-a-boo.

We had our first visit to the Zoo, which was a smashing success.

She was more interested in the other people, babies, and trees than most of the animals, but she did notice the tigers, which were awesome!

nice kitty.

They just built a new enclosure, and that photo above was not zoomed in at all. That tiger was six inches away from me. Woah. It was awesome.

We also attended a really great Memorial Day service here in town. Maggie was very enthusiastic about waving her flag.

And just in case you missed her ensemble:

In other news, Mommy (that’d be me) has a new short haircut, as Maggie has figured out that pulling my hair is second only in hilarity to sticking it in her mouth. Now I’m sporting a chin-length bob which not only drastically reduces the amount of time I spend with my hair pulled, but also helps with my making my thinned-out strands (thanks post-partum hair loss!) look fuller. Win.

I am in the middle of praying the novena to the Holy Spirit which ends the day before Pentecost. It’s basically the equivalent of a good old fashioned spiritual butt-kicking. Which is, apparently, just what I need. Hopefully I’ll write more about that soon.

I guess this is “quick takes” Tuesday, but I didn’t want to wait until Friday. Who knows what could happen before then? I could end up like this:

I wish.
