The wonderful Maggie has started a weekly posting called “wondering Wednesday” where she asks a question, usually rhetorical, sometimes also positing possible answers. Her post this week, “What’s wrong with wanting a big family?” is great and firey, two things I can always count on getting from her posts! Here’s my somewhat related contribution to Wondering Wednesday: How Many? This is a question that every family, and especially every woman is asked at some point. How many children do you... listen to the new album of amazing Catholic singer Audrey Assad! She is a CCM (Christian Contemporary Music) singer who just happens to be Catholic. (There aren’t many!) During an interview she did with the radio show “Speaking of Faith”, Audrey said the following: “To this convert, the Catholic Church presented herself as the answer to many questions that had plagued and rattled me for decades; I wrestled as a Protestant with why, like Bono, I still hadn’t found what... Rae asked me in a comment on the Psalm for women (see post below this one) I posted recently about which of the women mentioned in the prayer most inspired me. Thanks for asking; I realized after the fact I probably should have mentioned that before asking all of you which Christian/Catholic women inspire you the most! I think I have a hard time choosing one of the women listed as “most” inspirational, as at various times in my life... Read more
This prayer is in the Catholic women’s devotional Bible that I have, and I just love it! Divine Wisdom, out of love and compassion You created me and called me ‘woman’ bone of bones and flesh of flesh companion and partner with man. You created me in your own image to be fruitful, and to fill the earth with life, leading, ordering, and empowering the created universe, together with holy women and men, created and infused with Your spirit of... I started this as a regular post yesterday, but then I realized that today is Friday, so I’m just going to turn them into 7 QT. ** 1 ** I am now 14 weeks and 4 days pregnant. One week ago I got to hear baby B’s heartbeat on the doppler. I entered the second trimester. It would seem that there’s going to be a small child making his or her grand entrance in about six months. Even though I’ve... Read more
Oh friends, The trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been released. Part one comes out in November ( 4 months!) and Part two in July of 2011. I’m not entirely certain that my preggo hormones will be able to handle this! Oh goodness. What do you think about that?? On a side note, light blogging ahead as we’re leaving tomorrow to visit my grandparents in PA. We’ll be back on Monday evening, but not before I get... Read more
Just to be clear right away, if you’re looking for a post on football, this isn’t it. I’m not talking about why you should be a fan of a certain football team that is known as “the Saints”. Obviously if I was going to write a post about why you should support a football team, it would be about the COLTS. 🙂 No, no, this is a follow-up post to my request for “good reads” the other day. When I... Read more
I don’t write about makeup much on here, but really, I love it. When I was in high school I told my grandparents I wanted to become a makeup artist. To which they replied, “Over our dead bodies. You’re going to college. If you want to become a makeup artist, you can do that after you go to college.” I was pretty annoyed at the time, but in retrospect, it was good advice. Anyway, I really like makeup. I like... Read more
Friends, I’m looking for a good read. Now, I know what you must be saying, “You work at the library? Aren’t there good reads there?” I work at a branch library, which is great. But what I mean by “good read” is that I’m looking for a good, non-theology-textbook-type book on spiritual growth. Spiritual growth sounds really silly, but you know what I mean. I want to read something that’s going to challenge me with me relationship with God, but... Read more
