Lying Email from SSI: I Got Mine. Did You Get Yours?

I’m talking about the lying “official” email from Social Security that evidently went out to millions of people yesterday. 

This email was rolled out like something that was put in the pipe days in advance. It also correlates with the lies I’m seeing on right wing cable news. It has all the earmarks of a prepared media campaign of lies that was put together in advance.

The email is puffing and promoting Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” that will cut off the insurance for 35 million Americans, close rural hospitals and cut huge amounts out of Medicare in order to give tax cuts for America’s 813 billionaires. 

Aside from the fact that government agencies have never been used for blatant political promotion in the history of our country, this particular email is telling us a dead-flat lie. 

It claims that this death-dealing law is A-OK because, the email claims, it exempts social security recipients from paying federal income taxes on their SSI checks. 

That’s a lie. The law Trump signed yesterday in his big ceremony with a military flyover does no such thing. 

It. Is. Not. In. The. Law.

What it does do is contain a nothing much codicil. This codicil allows you to claim an exemption on your federal taxes for the taxes you will in fact pay your Social Security. There is no exemption from taxes on Social Security in Trump’s law. None.  That is a lie.

You will pay taxes on your social security. This codicil is not designed to give you and me tax relief on our social security. It is a lie and a fake that is designed to give Republican lawmakers “cover” so they can get away with what they have done to us.  

Do you understand that? The Republican Death bill DOES NOT EXEMPT SOCIAL SECURITY FROM FEDERAL TAXES. 

But if you pay taxes on your social security, you can take the amount of the taxes that you pay on the social security — $500? $1000? — and use that as a deduction on your overall federal taxes. 

It doesn’t — DOES NOT — exempt your Social Security from taxes, and you’ll probably end up with about fifty cents in reduction on your federal taxes, and you’ll get that only after doing a mountain of math and filling out forms and staying up late trying to figure out how get it done. 

Or, I suppose you could spend a few hundred dollars to hire a professional to do all that paper work for you and get your fifty cent deduction that way. Either way, the email you may have gotten from Social Security lies. 

The “big beautiful” death bill does NOT exempt Social Security from taxes. That. Is. A. Lie. 

Did you seriously think Trump’s Republican’s would do something for people like us? Are you that naive?

These people were beamed into office on a beam of billionaire money for one purpose. They are there to slit America open and clean it out like a hunter, field dressing a gut shot deer, then hand everything over to the billionaires who own them. 

They don’t represent us. We aren’t their constituents. We are their prey.

But there is that small matter of an election coming up next year. We could actually throw them out come November 2026. 

So they’ve gotta do something to keep the scales from dropping from the eyes of their base. 

Their standard tactic, which has been used with great success in the past, is to lie. We are going to be carpet bombed with lies on every right wing cable news station and from every right wing podcast and from the pulpits of every one of Trump’s whore preachers. 

It appears that we are also going to get hit with lies coming from his government agencies. It would seem that the honest people in those agencies have all been fired and replaced with lying shills. 

That’s what this email was. It was a direct lie that a government agency sent out to the American people in official format in order to provide political “cover” for a bunch of lying politicians. 

The lies on cable news have already started. I saw a clip of one of the Congressmen who had just voted to kill his own constituents by denying them medical care, lying nonstop on a right wing cable news outlet. 

That shouldn’t surprise you. Anyone who would use the power of their office to do something they know will result in the death and suffering of the constituents they are sworn to represent isn’t going to quibble about telling a lie. 

This Congressman, and the others like him, sold their souls a long time ago.
