Last year we had several posts on American plans to install missile defenses in Poland and the furious response from Russia. (Use the “search” function at the top of the page if you’d like to read our earlier discussion.) As Vice President Joe Biden himself said, President Obama would soon face a test from the Russians. Well, it appears that in his first confrontation with the Russians, President Obama has given Vladimir Putin what he wants, agreeing to cancel the plans for a missile shield in Eastern Europe in return for Russian help in getting Iran to stop its nuclear program.
