The teleprompted president

The teleprompted president

What’s with President Obama’s reliance on teleprompters–not only for formal speeches but for brief announcements, introductions of appointees, and informal remarks? It is reportedly getting embarrassing, as technicians have to do all of this setup in front of a waiting press corps and invited guests before the most minor of public appearances. This commentary tells about this and raises some good questions: What if President Bush did this? Why are we not hearing snide comments from those who accused Karl Rove of being Bush’s brain? Where are all of the comedians?
