Comedian Al Franken has finally been seated as the Senator from the wild, eccentric, and eccentric-loving state of Minnesota, having won the election by 312 votes out of 2.4 million cast. The lessons are that every vote counts and that we must stop thinking of Minnesota in Garrison Keillor terms.

This means there are 60 Democrats in the Senate, which means they have a supermajority, allowing them to shut down any Republican filibuster attempt. The Democrats can now pass any laws they want.
