Most conservative Christians are happy with the re-election of Donald Trump and the Republican's big victory, even though his campaign pushed evangelicals to the sidelines and cast aside their most important issue, the pro-life cause. Still, his election bodes well for other issues they care about. The prospects are dim for Christian nationalism, but Christian realism is a better option anyway.
Michael Brendan Dougherty is not a fundamentalist preacher but a sober mainstream conservative pundit. He interpreted the 2016 election between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump as the judgment of God. But he goes beyond politics to realize that nations, churches, and all of us are under God's judgment.
