In Sickness and in Health
No couple goes into their marriage expecting that their spouse will fall ill, but it is a reality of life. Whether mental or physical, illness is a possibility, and by vowing to love your spouse through sickness and health you are promising to do your part to always care for their needs.
Should your spouse fall sick, you vow to act as their caregiver to the best of your abilities, to be patient, to be a shoulder to lean on, and to show love.
Loving one another in health also means taking care of your bodies. Not only will this keep you physically in shape and attractive to your spouse, but also contributes to a long-lasting, healthy life.
To Love and to Cherish Till Death Do Us Part
When you say your wedding vows, know that what you are really vowing to do is to put 100 percent of your time, energy, love, and devotion to keeping your relationship healthy and happy for the rest of your lives. This means remaining committed and faithful to one another, even when times are tough.
Speaking of infidelity, the Bible says in Proverbs 5:3,4: “The words of an immoral woman may be as sweet as honey and as smooth as oil. But all that you really get from being with her is bitter poison and pain.”
By staying faithful to your spouse, you build an unshakable bond of trust, enhance emotional intimacy, display respect and partnership, and show true love.
