How sweet!  ESPN reports on the perfect night that Houston shortstop Carlos Correa had during the last game of the World Series:

First, the star Houston shortstop became a World Series champion when the Astros toppled the Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 in Los Angeles.

Then, while the Astros were celebrating on the Dodger Stadium field, Correa proposed to his girlfriend…

Watch the moment here:

“Daniella Rodriguez, will you make me the happiest man in the world?” he asked while on one knee. “Will you marry me?”

She said yes — and you can see from the video that the ring is gorgeous.

Correa told ESPN: “… I was planning if we were World Series champions, I was going to do it right there,” Correa said. “I don’t think that’s a stage you can create; it just has to happen. And we were able to win tonight, so perfect timing for me to get engaged.

“I’ve been thinking about it for months now, but I was waiting for the perfect opportunity, you know. I knew we had a great team, we could accomplish this, and I wasn’t wrong.”

He said that he didn’t want to jinx the outcome of the game, but he told one of the clubbies to go get the ring if they got three outs:

“One of the clubbies, I talked to him in the ninth inning, and I’m like, ‘I don’t want to jinx anything, but if we get the three outs, please bring me the ring because I am going to get engaged in the ballpark.'”

What a sweet story — and it’s nice to see Houston win after all that they’ve gone through as a city.
