Matthew 15: The Power of Faith

Matthew 15: The Power of Faith

Matthew 15 is a great example of the power of faith. Verse 28 reads, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” One woman from outside of the Jewish audience Jesus was serving at the moment came with a request for her daughter. Initially, Jesus denied her request. But she did not give up. Humbly, she continued to make her plea. Why did Jesus change his mind? Her faith.

This may not translate to every request in our lives, but it certainly does in some cases. Other Scriptures tell us we have not because we ask not. Our faith has a role in whether our requests are answered. The question I took away from writing down Matthew 15 was this: In what area do I need to increase my faith?

OTHER NOTES: I connected yesterday with Nathan Clark, a pastor of online ministries at the large Northlands Church in the Orlando area. He and his wife are currently handwriting the entire Bible using the Message translation. They started in Genesis some time ago and are currently in the Psalms (That’s half the Bible!). With four kids, they are a living example that if God calls you to do this, you can do it. Below is a link the video spotlight their church did on their journey. It’s about four minutes long and worth every second: http://www.northlandchurch.net/media/nathan_and_jenns_bible/ or just click here.
