2 Corinthians 6: Clear Paths

2 Corinthians 6: Clear Paths

“We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.” -2 Corinthians 6:3

I find it fascinating that Paul felt the need to share that his goal was to remove all stumbling blocks to faith in Christ. In other places, he speaks of the difficulties of following Christ. Here, we find him making the message as easy as possible to embrace.

Following Jesus is a difficult path; faith in Jesus shouldn’t be.

We run into many problems when we mix up these two concepts. Some teach that following Jesus is a walk in the park–you’ll be healthier, richer, wiser, and everything will go your way. But what happens when you lose a child to miscarriage, your parents divorce, or you’re stuck in debt? The reality is that following Jesus day by day requires God’s Spirit living within us–otherwise, we don’t stand a chance.

But choosing to believe in Jesus as God’s risen Son doesn’t require a law degree or even 12-steps. Due to God’s grace, it requires only one thing–faith. We believe and Jesus comes into our lives.

Paul was sure to remove any barriers possible that would keep others from coming to faith in Christ. Do we? Are willing to go to any length to help those around us experience the love of Jesus in their own lives? Sadly, we often overlook opportunity God may be sending our way.

Life is tough, but helping someone have a shot at believing in Christ shouldn’t be. Let’s “clear paths” today and share the simply, life-transforming message of Jesus through our words and actions.
