Genesis 15: A Life of Faith

Genesis 15: A Life of Faith 2012-01-20T10:09:32-05:00

4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

-Genesis 15:4-6

Abram was a successful man, yet he was frustrated that he did not have a child of his own to continue his family’s legacy. In an important conversation with God, Abram was told he would have a son from his own wife. In fact, his descendents would be like the stars of the sky–they could not be counted.

Abram’s response? He believed the Lord. He received a righteousness from God as a result (see Hebrews 11 for the New Testament connection with this account).

Our response to God today? Believe him. It is by faith we please God. It is by faith we walk in him. Live a life of faith today.
