Exodus 3: God Is with Us

Exodus 3: God Is with Us 2012-03-15T11:18:18-04:00

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”  12 And God said, “I will be with you. -Exodus 3:11-12

Before the Ten Commandments, there was the burning bush. Before God revealed his law, he revealed himself to Moses–personally.

At first, Moses made excuses. One of them was asking, “Who am I?” Moses considered himself inadequate for the task at hand–leading the entire people of Israel out of Egyptian slavery, perhaps numbering more than two million people.

Yet when God calls, the issue is never, “Who am I?” The question is, “Who are you?” If the answer of the one calling is truly God–the I AM–then our inadequacy doesn’t matter. His strength is sufficient.

All that matters is what God told Moses long ago: “I will be with you.” If God has called us, we can move forward in full confidence. He is able and He. Is. With. Us.
