Exodus 38: Ability and Obedience

Exodus 38: Ability and Obedience 2012-05-02T09:16:31-04:00

22 (Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything the Lord commanded Moses; 23 with him was Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan—an engraver and designer, and an embroiderer in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen.) -Exodus 38:22-23

God gave Bezalel and Oholiab special abilities to craft the tabernacle. But what if they had not used their gifts to accomplish God’s will? There would have been no tabernacle, no ark, no system of worship for the people of God. The history of God’s redemptive work through the Jewish people would be radically different than history records.

The history of worshiping God rests on the obedience of two gifted men.

But do you realize the same is true in your life?

God has given you unique abilities to serve him. If you use those gifts as he desires, many lives will be changed. Eternity will be impacted. But what if you don’t obey? I hate to consider the thought, but ability is not enough; obedience is essential to our spiritual life.

Today, don’t doubt your gifts. You have them. Question your obedience. Are you living devoted to God today? If not, use this moment to recommit your day to serving the only One worthy of all our dedication and worship. Use your abilities for him–and obey.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
