Leviticus 17: God’s Love for Immigrants

Leviticus 17: God’s Love for Immigrants

“Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you…” -Leviticus 17:13

Many readers of the Old Testament overlook the fact that God often mentions immigrants among his directions for his people. Why? Because there were many non-Jews who also followed the Lord. Even deeper, it’s because God’s love extends to all people, including those considered outsiders by this world.

It’s am important mental transition to make for Christians: God’s love does not stop at our nation’s border. God loves people from Egypt and Japan and Haiti and Chile as much as he loves every American.

In addition, God equally loves those within our nation’s boundaries whether they are immigrants or natives, legals or illegals. Such distinctions do not change his view of us.

Why can’t we be more like him?
