Leviticus 3: Give God Your Best, Pt. 2

Leviticus 3: Give God Your Best, Pt. 2 2012-05-09T13:24:43-04:00

“‘If your offering is a fellowship offering, and you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you are to present before the Lord an animal without defect.” -Leviticus 3:1

The system of offerings in the Old Testament repeated focuses on giving God your best. Leviticus 3 begins with the command to present before the Lord an animal without defect. Why?

The temptation would be to bring the weakest of a person’s livestock, saving the best for themselves. God preempted this issue with a command for a flawless animal as an offering. We may not understand the system of worship, but we can appreciate the emphasis.

God does not want our leftovers. He wants to give us a better life, but this means we must be willing to lay down anything else that we have become more attached to than him. When we do, we show that God is our top priority. We call this worship.

Worship begins by giving God our best.
