Shaping Our Dreams

Shaping Our Dreams March 30, 2011

Too sad to write tonight.  Having a delayed reaction to Bill Stuntz’ death.  Bill was a good friend, and he died from cancer two weeks ago.

Have I mentioned here before that cancer sucks? Oh right, just a few weeks before that, when Barbara died. I hate, hate, hate cancer.

Tonight the Christian students at the Harvard Law School, where Bill was a hot shot legal scholar, had a memorial of sorts. They simply read through his words and played two clips of his interviews.  You can read them in the attached pdf (which is rather lengthy). Maybe it’s because I love Bill.  Maybe it’s because of our conversations over the years on the nature of suffering. Maybe it’s because of my own experience with loss.  But I love hearing him tell his story.

It has nothing to do with homeschooling.  But it has everything to do with who I want to be, which I hope shapes our family and school life.

And you?  What shapes your dreams?

(If you are wondering if the Jeff about whom Bill refers is my Jeff, he is.  What our family would be without his shaping influence I care not to imagine.)
