For many years, I struggled with using plural pronouns as singular pronouns. Though I had no philosophical or spiritual objection, I just struggled with the grammar of it all. I don’t anymore. Some time ago, I got curious/convicted about using singular plural pronouns in John 3:16. When I inserted the pronouns, I realized they were a better reflection of the fluid multifaceted nature of God and our creation in God’s image. We are called to discover the beauty of God beyond the binaries. I think this fluid remix of John 3:16 points us in the right direction. The verse remains in my prayers.
