“We don’t know anything about Jesus’ genitalia.”   I’ve long wondered why people are so certain that Jesus had a penis. The scriptures say little about it. Maybe Jesus had a vagina? Maybe Jesus had something much wilder than our current understandings? The bottom line is that we shouldn’t assign genitalia to someone when we know anything about their genitalia…especially when it comes to God.   Amen. Read more

“What happened to the female disciples of Jesus?”   Jesus had many followers. We know that women were amongst them. Why are they mentioned so infrequently in scripture? Why are their stories suppressed? Men have been running the show and writing the narrative since the beginning. What would the female disciples have to say? I think they might show us the way. I imagine they are still speaking.   Amen. Read more

“Hate Money!”   Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:10 that “..the love of money is the root of all evil.” Money leads to many evils. We see it everyday. Money is making people sick. Money is ruining lives. Money is killing people. I think Paul should have made it simpler and declared that followers of Jesus should “Hate Money!”   Amen. Read more

“Fuck it.”   In Philippians 4:6, Paul doesn’t want us to be anxious about anything. I think we should translate that into modern language and approach our anxieties with one phrase in mind…Fuck it.   Amen. Read more

“Would you still follow Jesus if Jesus never existed?”   We put a tremendous amount of trust in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. What if they lied? Would that change your faith in Jesus?   Amen. Read more

“Love the KKK.” / “Love your enemy.”   Jesus tells us to love our enemies in Matthew 5:44. I can think of few more hateful organizations than the KKK. They are indeed enemies of God. If we are going to love our enemies, we have to love the vilest. We can’t follow Jesus without finding a way to love the KKK.   Amen. Read more

In John 2, Jesus brought the wine. How could anyone teach that all alcohol is sinful after reading the verses about the wedding feast? I don’t know. I only know that Jesus brought the wine.   Amen. Read more

There is not a single verse in all of scripture that describes Jesus’ genitalia. Why do we spend so much time assuming that Jesus had a penis? I think our faith would benefit from exploring the femininity of Jesus…or assuming for a little while that Jesus had a vagina.   Amen. Read more

In Matthew 22, Jesus tells us to love God and our neighbor. If we are not going to love, our lives our meaningless. People are always talking about what everybody else needs to be. I think we can make Jesus’ greatest commandments simpler. Stop worrying about everything else…”Just Be Love.”   Amen. Read more
