Revelation 19:11-16 Heroes is a sermon about the importance of heroes in our lives and how as Christians we can be heroes to others as we follow Jesus.

He defeats the armies of the Earth

He defeats the “beast” and the false prophet

He defeats Satan

There are all kinds of heroes around us

Heroes have special names (19:11-13)

Jesus has several names defining His power:

Faithful and True

“A name that no one knows” – He will get a new name because of this event

Word of God

But we know heroes who have special names:

Clark Kent is known as Superman

Bruce Wayne is known as Batman

Tony Stark is known as Iron Man

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes

They are our firefighters

They are our pastors

They are our fathers

Soldiers have been our nation’s heroes

Number of soldiers who have sacrificed for our country

What all heroes do for us:

They fight for our freedom – “strike the nations” (19:15)

They protect and save us from our enemies – “iron scepter” (19:15)

They provide for us – “shepherd us” (19:15)

They execute judgment on behalf of us – “trample the winepress” (19:15)

God wants me to be a hero to someone
