Prophecy Watch: The United States of Europe

Prophecy Watch: The United States of Europe is a simple thought prophecy watch reflection on the way in which the European Union could become the United States of Europe.

“You saw the feet and toes, partly of a potter’s fired clay and partly of iron—it will be a divided kingdom, though some of the strength of iron will be in it. You saw the iron mixed with clay, and that the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly fired clay—part of the kingdom will be strong, and part will be brittle. You saw the iron mixed with clay—the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay. “In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and this kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself endure forever.” (Daniel 2:41–44, HCSB)

As this European Union press release states, a top EU official has expressed interest in creating a “United States of Europe.” There are people are against this idea (namely Brits), but the trend to a federalized Europe continues to build steam. How would it work? According to this article, it would change to make these three parts of the federal government:

1. The European Commission would form the central government
2. European Parliament
3. Senate of Member States

Is it going to happen? The Bible says that some form of world government is centered in the former Roman Empire. That former empire strikingly resembles the present European Union.
