Resisting In The Evil Day

This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. (Ephesians 6:13, HCSB)

Resisting in the evil day is the purpose of spiritual preparation. Paul relates to the believers in Ephesus the need for spiritual preparation. He uses the image of body armor to describe the parts to spiritual preparation. He talks about salvation, faith, righteousness, truth, peace, and the Spirit. Each of these qualities are necessary for preparation. But necessary for what?

Resistance in the day of evil.

What is that day of evil? The day of evil is potentially every day. When I wake up, the day can be good or evil, depending on whether I am spiritually prepared.

Application: Do I take the time to “put on the armor of God?” Do I take time to be spiritually prepared to resist in the evil day? Every day, the devil can tempt me to stop following Christ. He wants me to take a detour on the path God ha called for me. Am I taking time each day to resist the devil?

Prayer: God, please strengthen me so that I might be able to resist the devil in the potential evil day. Please help me make today a good day for You.
