We never know what is in the heart of another person, even if we saw them every week in our living room. Never forget that TV is not reality, and that life after TV — especially for child actors — can take strange and tragic turns.

On CBS’ long-running sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond,” Sawyer Sweeten and his brother Sullivan played Geoffrey and Michael Barone, the twin sons of Long Island, N.Y., sportswriter Raymond Barone (Ray Romano) and his wife, Debra (Patricia Heaton). The Sweeten twins’ sister, Madylin, played older sister Ally Barone.

RadarOnline is reporting that Sawyer Sweeten, 19, who hasn’t acted since the sitcom ended in 2005, has committed suicide.

A source very close to the situation tells Radar, “Sawyer was visiting family in Texas. He went on the front porch and killed himself with a gunshot to his head.”

A family representative confirmed the news and described the family as “devastated.” Sweeten’s manager, Dino May, also confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to an article responding to a question about the Sweeten twins, posted in 2012 at AmericanProfile.com:

Sawyer says he liked everyone on the set of the show, but he was not crazy about doing the show. “My favorite people to hang out with were the prop room crew,” he says.

Heaton — who, like Romano, was raised Catholic — is an avid user of Twitter, but has yet to respond to the sad news.

On her Facebook page, Madlyin Sweeten wrote:

At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love. Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you.

The siblings’ last public appearance together was at the 2010 TV Land Awards (Sawyer is at the left in the photo below. Roll your cursor over it to see the caption).

Please say a prayer for Sweeten’s real-life and TV families.

UPDATE: Heaton has commented on Sweeten’s death at her Twitter account:
