Meet the Women of October

Meet the Women of October October 21, 2012

Among the seven canonized today:

Kateri Tekawitha: “sustained by her Christian faith and an ardent love of Jesus present in the Eucharist.”

Anna Schäffer: “Through Christ she was able to accept the mystery of the Cross in love and gratitude.”

Marìa Carmen Sallés y Barangueras: “Her life was fruitful because it was a self-giving life.”
Her motto: “Forward always, forward. God will provide.”

Marianne Cope and her service to the lepers of Hawaii: “At a time when little could be done for those suffering from this terrible disease, Marianne Cope showed the highest love, courage, and enthusiasm.”

Saint Hildegard of Bingen, elevated as a doctor of the Church, too, this month: “Above all, she maintained a great and faithful love for Christ and his Church.”

Pope Benedict XVI: let ourselves be reconciled with God and with each other … Solemnly purified, Christians can regain a legitimate pride in their dignity as children of God, created in his image and redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and they can experience his joy in order to share it with everyone, both near and far.

A life of holiness: It can be done!
