How many places can you think of where you wouldn’t take a Bible, for fear of destroying its delicate pages?

No problem, if you have the “water-proof, dirt-proof, tear-proof and virtually life-proof” Forever Bible!  The creators claim that this new Bible is 24 times stronger than regular paper and “doesn’t use any trees.”  (I suppose that means it’s plastic?)

Forever bible 2The company, which has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund production of this new everything-proof Bible, explains that personal notes and highlighted passages will remain, even as you wash away the dirt or fluids which have splashed the book’s pages.

It would be a great gift for someone heading out to a mission field or a war zone.

A cautionary note:  I’m sure that most of my readers are Catholic, and at this point there is no Catholic version available utilizing this technology.  The Forever Bible is available in New International Version, English Version, and King James Version. Commonly used  Catholic versions of the Bible include the New American, Revised Standard Version, New Revised Standard, and Douay.

The Forever Bible will include all 27 books of the New Testament, and 39 of the Old Testament books; but missing will be seven books of the Old Testament which were removed at the time of the Reformation, when Protestants rejected the teachings contained therein:  Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach and Baruch.  The Catholic Church considers all of these books to be divinely inspired.
