A Palestinian State in the West Bank Will Be Intolerable

A Palestinian State in the West Bank Will Be Intolerable September 30, 2014

The General Assembly of the United Nations just met last week in New York City. Both Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas delivered speeches there. Some of their remarks concerned the recent war in Gaza, which lasted 50 days. Gaza suffered 2100 Palestinians killed and much destruction that will take years from which to recover with building projects and be very costly. The Israelis only suffered 72 casualties. It’s always the same imbalanced ratio.

Both speeches had some lamentable remarks. Both men said that their people had the right to defend themselves. I wouldn’t disagree. But I have to say the Palestinians started this war by continuing to lob rockets unto Israel that really accomplish nothing but instill fear into residents. What good does it do the Palestinians. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with such strategy. But then, there is no winning strategy them against the occupiers, especially as long as the Palestinians stay focused on getting a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and a portion of the West Bank because getting Israel to give up all of the West Bank is a total pipe dream!

The Palestinians need to faw-get-about the West Bank! Look what President Abbas said in his speech last week. He said in the U.S.-brokered peace negotiations which preceded the war this summer, that concerning the West Bank Israel only agreed to “at best isolated ghettos for the Palestinians on fragmented lands, without borders and without sovereignty over its airspace, water and natural resources, which will be under the subjugation of the racist settlers and army of occupation, and at worst will be a most abhorrent form of apartheid.”

Indeed, at my website kermitzarley.com, I tell about much of this in updated articles about my book, Palestine Is Coming: The Revival of Ancient Philistia (1990). In the book, I say that the Palestinians need to forget about the West Bank, even though many of them live there, and think about achieving a Palestinian state that is totally separate from Israel and located on the coastal plain as a very expanded Gaza Strip. Moreover, I claim this is prophesied in the Bible. Why is so prophesied? I don’t think it’s because God is going to make it happen, though I could be wrong. But if I am, why has he been waiting so long? No, I think it will happen because it is the most logical solution that will work. A West Bank/Gaza Palestinian state will not work because it will prove intolerable for the Palestinians, just as President Abbas said last week.
