Does President Obama Read the Qu’ran? February 21, 2015

The U.S. White House arranged an international summit that was held this week in Washington, D.C., to address Islamic terrorism around the world. President Obama spoke at it. But as always, he refrained from using the expression “Islamic terrorism.” The reason is that he does not think such terrorists are genuine Muslims. I don’t agree with him about refusing to use that expression, but I do sympathize somewhat with him about this subject. There have been many misdeeds committed by professing Christians throughout the history of Christianity. The main example, of course, is the so-called Holy Crusades. Some of those were directed against Muslims, though some of them were tit for tat. Some of those professing Christians I would not accept as genuine.

See my post on April 4, 2014, entitled “Are We Doing Enough About Islamic Suicide Bombers?”

President Obama said at the summit, “No religion is responsible for terrorism.” What Qu’ran does he read? Or does he even read it? Islam is one the the three primary monotheistic religions in the world, the other two being Judaism and Christianity. And all three, thus including Islam, are based on a sacred text. For Islam, it is the Qu’ran (Koran). Here are some verses from the Qu’ran about this subject:

“Believers [Muslims], take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends” (5:51).

Muslims who “desert you, seize them and put them to death” (4:89).

“the faithful [Muslims] … will fight for the cause of God, they will slay and be slaim” (9:111).

“Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you” (8:123).

“We will put terror into the hearts of the unbelievers” (3:150).

“When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads” (47:4).
